World East Results Austin finished 2nd in Point Standings, Sunoco Rookie-Of-The Year and only driver in the series to complete every lap of every race last season!
Austin Dillon in the NASCAR East Series I've been watching this kid in the NASCAR East Series. He's got it! He finished 2nd in the points, and without some real bad breaks would've won the title in his rookie year. He raced for an RCR development team, which makes sense, since his grandfather is the great NASCAR team owner Richard Childress! Austin's going to be racing in the Nationwide Series again for RCR. He raced twice in 2008 in the Nationwide series for his grandfather's team finishing 4th in his second start. He has lots of experience (and wins) in dirt late-models, Legends, and other series. He's going to race for RCR next year in the Nationwide series.... don't know if he's going to be running the #3 there or not, but I believe he will be. The #3 car was his Grandfathers number when he raced, before Dale made it famous. Austin said he wants to run the number in honor of his grandfather, but I hope he doesn't forget who made it famous. If he does, and keeps driving like he has been, he'll have one fan in me rooting him on to the Cup series!
