Clint Bowyer Clint's girlfriend Athena's butt. Clint with his 2009 #33 Cheerios ride - Needs more Black! "Look Ma! I finished the 2007 Daytona 500 - ON MY ROOF!" "Look Ma!! I'm Flying!! Errrrr and on FIRE!" |
Date Of Birth: May 30, 1979 Years: 4 (1 Race in 2005) I really like this guy! He's a Dale Earnhardt Junior without the last name! Down to earth, unassuming, but still a passionate, red blooded racer! He originally wanted to be a dirt bike racer. Moto-Cross is my second favorite racing sport after NASCAR, so I like that. Though he loved Moto-Cross, he came to realize he didn't have what it took to make it racing dirt bikes. So, in 1996 he decided to give racing with 4 wheels a go and quickly became a successful dirt track racer in the Mid-West.. In 2002, he gave pavement his first try, and won NASCAR's Midwest Championship. In 2003, Clint ran in an ARCA race at Nashville and his impressive finish caught the eye of the legendary NASCAR owner Richard Childress. Childress ran Clint in some Busch series races in 2004, and in 2005, put him full time in the series. Clint had a great run and finished a close second in the standings to Martin Truex Jr. The rest is history! In 2006, he had an impressive rookie year, and in 2007, he shocked everyone with his consistency and made the Chase! He finished 3rd in the standings, getting his first Cup win in the first Chase race. He made the Chase again in 2008, finishing 5th. 2009 will be an interesting year. Though he enjoyed great success with his crew chief Gil Martin in the 07 Jack Daniels car, Childress has decided to move him - without his crew chief - to the new #33 RCR car. This all seems a little unfair to Clint, in my opinion, but Childress has always looked out for his drivers, so you have to assume he knows what's best. It'll take some getting used to seeing him in the Cheerios car instead of the Jack Daniels.... I'm sure most of us will think "Bobby Labonte" for the first half of the year when we see the car going around the track! I predict good things for Clint in the future. His consistency will most likely earn him a Championship sometime in the future. He'll need to work on getting the wins to do so, but RCR has stepped up their program the last couple years, with the goal to getting back to where they were before Dale was killed. All the best wishes for a great, down to earth guy, who races with passion! What more can you ask for?
