January 31 Notes – Neil Bonnett By ChevyTech

January 31st, 2009

ChevyTech wrote a great driver’s page about Neil Bonnett. I liked it so much, I put it up on the News Page for you all to comment on!

Not sure if it was just me, but I found the conversation in the forum real fun today. Perhaps we’re all getting more excited about live racing getting closer and closer! Whatever it was, I liked it!

Have a fun weekend!

Jan 29 Notes – Profiles, Weather, MRN Radio

January 29th, 2009

Seahawk, Karfil, and Firefly’s profiles are up, and JRB’s is renamed “ghostdog”.

ChevyTech’s suggested a link to MRN Radio, and I thought it was such a good idea I thought I’d take it a step further. I sent a request to MRN Radio to stream their broadcast on our site during the races. Hope to hear from them soon!

Weather has been knocking some of us out. I know Shirley’s had a lot of problems with her internet access, and she wanted to let you all know she’s still around! ;) I haven’t seen Yooper for a couple days… hope she’s doing all right – I know the weather in her area is crazy at times!  ;)

Besides that, all systems go! Anyone who is planning on joining the Fantasy League, please join soon – Daytona’s coming!!

Happy posting!

New Moderators

A few more members have been given editorial privileges. This is just to help insure that someone is around if/when something inappropriate is posted on the forum. I tried to pick people who are known and trusted by all, and are on at different times of the day/night. I have given them very little guideline’s to go by besides that which we’ve all pretty much agreed to since the beginning: No trolls, no drama/trouble-making allowed.  Of course foul language and personal information posted can also be removed by them. Jan 26 Notes

January 26th, 2009

We’re getting closer to racing! Can’t wait! It was great seeing stock cars on the track again this weekend. I two weeks, we’ll have Stock car racing every week for most of the rest of the year! How does that sound?

Lone Star is going to have her conclusion to The Beginnings of NASCAR up soon… most likely tomorrow. So keep an eye out for that! Besides that, nothing important to report!

Have a great day!

Kobyluck Wins All Star Race

January 25th, 2009

Matt Kobyluck was awarded the win after a wild battle at the finish. On the last lap, Joey Logano dive bombed into turn 4 and then slammed into the leader Peyton Sellers coming out. Sellers was stopped short by the contact. Logano crossed the finish line first but was penalized for rough driving and given a 40th place finish by NASCAR.

It was a great race! How fun to watch stock cars racing live again!! Woo Hoo! Daytona here we come!

January 23rd, 2009

From here forward, new members will have to register via an email request.   This will give us time to talk to someone before they join, so we can get an idea as to who they are and what they’re about before they join rather than after.

You can refer people to go to the right sidebar and click the “Register” link that will take them to a page with the email address to send their info to.

Ty1818’s profile is up.

Have a great day!

Fantasy Stock Car!! Get your team ready for Daytona!

Game FAQ

You can only use each driver once. Once you select a driver for a particular weekend’s race, that driver will no longer be available to you.

When do my picks need to be submitted by?
You will need to have your full team set before the time of the Race Freeze. Drivers freeze when that week’s race begins. Once the drivers have frozen you will no longer be able to change your picks for that week.

What if I miss a week?
Your lowest two weekly scores will be dropped from your overall score after week six is complete.

How does scoring work?

The drivers you pick will earn points based on their performance in the given race. Sporting News (SN) Points are equal to Sprint Points. For more information on Sprint points please go to NASCAR.COM. Your weekly scores will be added to determine your overall score. You must have 3 drivers selected by the Race Time Freeze to score points for that week. If you are even missing one driver, you will not score any points for that given week.

Jan 17 Notes – Fantasy League, New Logo

January 18th, 2009

Logo: Well, it looks like the logo with red letters has it, so I’m going to go that route. Thanks for the input!

Fantasy League: Now that I’ve had more time to reflect on the SportingNews decision to cancel the Fantasy Stock car game, I’ve decided that I’m STILL IRATE! I really wanted to introduce you guys to that great game! My efforts to formant  a revolution on that site has not brought a huge response… though all those who did respond have shared my sentiments. I’m hoping that SportingNews will rethink their decision, but for now, we need to move on.

Three For All Fantasy League: Now, this game is basically “checkers” to the main game’s “Chess”, but it’s still a real fun game. In case SportingNews listens to us and brings the main game back, I figured doing their TFA game would be the best idea. A lot of us had fun playing it in the Chase last season, and if  SportingNews brings back the main game midseason, we’ll all already be members and it’ll be easy to sign up real quick. I’ll send out invites to everyone by Monday to the emails you have listed on the boards. If you do not receive an invite, please contact me with a good email address and I’ll resend.

I’m sorry I can’t offer you guys steak and lobster, but a good burger ain’t bad, is it? TFA is by no means anywhere near as good as as the main game, but it’s still very fun. In my disappointment in not being able to offer you the “Steak and Lobster” game I’ve been bragging to you guys about, I perhaps trashed the “Good Burger” too much… Tony Stewart style I guess. ;) We’ll have fun, and keep our options open for something bigger and better if SportingNews doesn’t bring the main game back.

Shirley, CR, Nutter, myself and others have played this game before. I’m sure all of us will be glad to give newcomers tips and answer questions.

Have a great weekend!

SportingNews Dumps on NASCAR Fans!

January 16th, 2009

Well, I guess NASCAR fans are second class citizens to The SportingNews guys. They nixed the great NASCAR Fantasy League Challenge game that I’ve been encouraging you all to join since LAST season! I guess they won’t get a chance to have all you great people join their site, since our type is apparently not wanted anymore.

They’re offering the “3 for all game”, but it’s a child’s game in comparison. Yahoo has a much better game than that one, so I’ll hunt around, and if I cannot find something better, I guess I’ll start up a Yahoo league for us.

Hopefully, someone at The SportingNews will get a clue that it doesn’t make good business sense to dump on all their NASCAR fans. If they don’t, I’ll cancel my subscription to their magazine and stop telling you all such great things about them, their game, their magazine and their site!

I’ll hope for the best and plan for the worst! Either way, we’ll have fun!
