Jimmie Johnson Wins The Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 At Martinsville!

March 30th, 2009

Congratulations to Jimmie Johnson for winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville! Great pass at the end with just a few laps left, and even greater job sprinting away and putting some distance between him and Hamlin’s rear bumper! Hamlin showed a lot of class by saying after the race that he woulda done the same thing in the same situation. All around it was just a great race from start to finish! Here’s to many more!!

Have a great day in the NASCAR forum!

Daytona 500 could face scheduling conflift with the NFL

March 27th, 2009

With recent talk from the NFL about extending its regular season, NASCAR has had to keep a close eye on the football league’s plans.  Why? Any NFL schedule change could push the Super Bowl further in to February, and any move in that directions could have a major impact on the Daytona 500. More on News Page.

Well, I for one sure hope that the NFL doesn’t extend their season.  It wouldn’t be good for anyone if the Datytona 500 and the Super Bowl went head to head. The NASCAR season is long, so perhaps it wouldn’t be the worst idea to lose a race and shorten the season, but I for one like it the way it is, would just like to rearrange the schedule a tad.  What do you think?

NASCAR Sprint Cup All-star race to have 10-lap final segment

March 26th, 2009

NASCAR announced the return of the 10-lap shootout to conclude the Sprint All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16. More on News Page.

I know that Junior pushed for something like this, but with the COT, I think it’ll be lame. It’s so hard to pass in the COT, by the time they restart the 10 lap sprint, if you’re not in the top 5, you might as well go park your car. I’d like to see them end on a longer run, personally.

Oh, well, they never consult me! Have a great day in our little NASCAR race chat forum!

All We hear lately is Earnhardt … now there’s two more!

March 25th, 2009

I guess rating’s are down at Fox, cause all they seem to want to talk about is Junior, Junior, Junior. I guess he can never win a Championship now according to them. Sheesh, they need to find something else to occupy their time with. Oh wait, here they go:

“Kerry and Jeffrey Earnhardt have joined Rick Ware Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Kerry will debut with the organization April 4 at Texas Motor Speedway in the No 31 Chevrolet. His son Jeffrey, 19, is scheduled to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Dover International Speedway May 30.

Both father and son will be paired with former NASCAR champion crew chief Paul Andrews until they do battle at Atlanta Motor Speedway this fall. At that juncture, Clyde McCloud will serve as crew chief for the younger Earnhardt. ”

More on the News page. Unfortunately, I don’t think those two have what it takes to supplant Junior and take some fo the media attention off of him, but who knows?

Scott Speed. Aric Almirola, Paul Menard out of Top 35 – Kvapil Gone?

March 24th, 2009

Martinsville will be the first race this season where points from this year will determine who gets a guaranteed spot in the race. Should make for some interesting qualifying. Rumor has it that the #8 team is going to fold soon too, if Truex leaves as expected next year, will Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing go back to Ganassi Racing again?

ChevyTech has a poll for you guys – see the right sidebar. Dale Junior has come out publically stating that he has full faith and confidence in Tony Junior, but some think there needs to be a change. I think the #88 team’s problems lie elsewhere, what do you think?
