Expanded Driver News And Stat Sections – RIP David Poole

April 30th, 2009

I’m going to be slowly adding expanded sections for certain drivers. Which drivers those are will be mostly determined by you. I have my hands full with the main page, so I will only be adding these sections for drivers who have fans who want to help keep the section up and going. Anyone who wants to get involved with a specific driver section, let me know. Right now, we have two in the works. Yota’s going to be the main guy for the Kyle Busch section, and Nutter assisted by Moe and Bubba will be doing a combined section for Dale and Junior.  Anyone who wants to get involved, let me know. We could use help putting up content and finding specific news stories that don’t come up on the regular feeds.. or even better, stories written by you!

It was great seeing all the nice comments about Dale yesterday. He was a great man and driver who’s obviously still very close in our hearts. Lost a little on Dales birthday was the sudden passing of David Poole the day before. He was a great, original reporter – my favorite NASCAR writer. May he rest in peace.

Brad Keselowski Gets His 1st NASCAR Spint Cup Win!

April 27th, 2009

Don’t forget the Truck Series Race finish tomorrow at 10 PM EST!

Hey, you all watched it, no need to describe it to you guys, but wow – wasn’t that an exciting race?? That finish was pretty scary. Whether you’re a Carl fan or not, no one wants to see a car get airborne  like that and fly into the fence injuring fans. I heard that most are going to be OK, though I heard one at least got a broken jaw.

Carl running on foot to cross the finish line was classic, and his blaming NASCAR’s lame interpretation of the Yellow Line Rule instead of Brad Keselowski was right on  and pretty classy too, IMO.

Speaking of the Yellow Line Rule: I’ve been saying since the last Dega race (click here to read my rant back in Oct. ’08) that since NASCAR choose to take away the win from Regan because he tried to avoid wrecking Tony, this very thing would happen at this race if they didn’t modify the Yellow Line Rule!

The Yellow Line Rule is fine, except in how they interpret it! They should make two simple changes:

A) If a driver moves below the yellow line to avoid wrecking the guy in front of him, he shouldn’t be penalized!

B) No Yellow Line Rule in effect at all after coming outta turn 4 within site of the checkers!

NASCAR has choosen to interpret the rule this way in the past, the rule itself hasn’t been rewritten, just the interpretation! They need to go back to using some common sense! These two simple changes probably would have  kept the huge wreck at Daytona from happening, and almost certainly the spectacular wreck at Dega on Sunday!

Anyway, I realize that there’s a downside to this: NASCAR officials would have to determine whether someone was forced below the line, leaving them to make one of those “judgment calls” we all love. But in my opinion, any bad calls by the officials will just be a price we’ll have to pay for safer, better racing. The driver avoiding the wreck should be given the benefit of the doubt – mainly for safety reasons again. Will some drivers abuse that and try to make it necessary to pass below the yellow line? Heck yeah! But some will get busted and think twice next time too! The most important thing is that it’ll make the races much safer, and that’s worth any other downside, which I personally don’t think will be much.

Practice For The NASCAR Nationwide Series Aarons 312

April 23rd, 2009

But it’s not going to be televised again! What the heck? This is getting to be a very annoying trend! Maybe ABC and ESPN should let Speed Channel cover it they don’t think NASCAR rates high  enough for them? Sheesh!

The Woods Brothers By Chevytech – News Page Changes

April 22nd, 2009

I made some changes to the News Page… I was having some glitches with it. I also switched it back to the Slowdaddy servers… that way, if we ever have the main site go down during a race for some reason, we’ll have the News Page for a back-up to go to!

Speaking of the News Page, I put a new story from ChevyTech up, make sure to read when you have time. Remember, comments are really appreciated. It makes the author feel good and that their efforts put in to the story are appreciated  when he/she gets comments on their stories – so comment away please!

Also note that there’s a link in the right side bar that’ll take you to all the stories submitted by members of the site. Check them out sometime!

Improving The COT And Finding ChevyTech!

April 21st, 2009

JJ3Peat proposed a poll on how best the COT could be improved.  Some think it’s the wing, some think it’s the splitter, so think it’s NASCAR not biving the teams enough travel in the front end… some think it’s all the above! What do you think?

Chevytech! We miss you man! I suspect he’s having trouble with his cable again, but I hope we hear from him soon and that nothing more serious has happened! If anyone has his phone number, give him a call and let us know how he is please!
