I chose Ryan Newman as my driver at my first race. Didn't know much about any of the other drivers, but I remembered seeing him wreck in Daytona in 2003 and then walk away. Since he was the only other driver besides Jr or Gordon, that I knew anything about I chose him. Since then I have learned a lot more about Newman and other drivers as well. Ryan Newman started the Ryan Newman Foundation in 2005. The foundation is dedicated to educating people about spaying and neutering their pets and encourages adopting from your local pound, educating people about conservation of the outdoors and they provide college scholarship funds to the Rich Voglar Scholarship Program, which provides scholarship money to students interested in racing. Newman also benefited from this fund. Ryan graduated from Purdue University in 2001 with a bachelor or science degree in vehicle structure engineering.

In my opinion, Ryan seems like a down to earth guy and a clean racer. The last few years with Penske were rough and I was glad to see him join Tony Stewart for the 2009 season. In an online bio it said Newman is ready to enjoy racing again and so far so good. I would love to see him win the championship and have his teammate/owner follow in second. What better statement for a first year team to make, huh? All I can say is, " Go Rocketman."
